Interview with Jürg Bühler, proprietor of inicio fitness and Andreas Winkler, former patient and AVR Treasurer

Where are Roche's physiotherapy facilities located?
We relocated to the second floor of the new Building 11 at the beginning of March, which gave us an opportunity to set up a physiotherapy unit with its own training room. Our new space is integrated into Fit@Roche.

Are physiotherapy sessions still taking place during the pandemic?
Despite the coronavirus, physiotherapy appointments in Basel and Kaiseraugst can be arranged at any time. It goes without saying that employees working solely from home don't need to come in especially for treatment.

How can I access physiotherapy?
You need a prescription from your doctor to be able to claim the cost of treatment from your health or accident insurance. And of course you can also get treatment without a doctor's prescription if you pay privately.

Where and how do I enrol?

Either directly by telephone:

Basel+41 61 688 3434 (Dominik)

Kaiseraugst+41 61 687 4848 (Emanuel)

Or even by email hidden; JavaScript is required

As a patient, are you entitled to use the whole fitness centre?

If training is part of the therapy, you can also use the fitness centre during the treatment period.

Questions put to Andreas Winkler (patient)

What, in your view, are the benefits?
Since I was mainly at the site during the pandemic, I could fit my appointments in around my work. I didn't have to make a special trip to an outside therapist, which meant I saved a lot of time and wasn't reliant on scheduling appointments for the start or the end of the day.

Was it difficult to get an appointment?
Not at all. As luck would have it, my first appointment was just 2 hours after I phoned. At the time, they were still in Building 34.

Would you like to tell us a little about the history of your complaints?
A shoulder injury that I suffered as a result of a fall was restricting me more and more. I went to see a doctor after waiting far too long and was told I had a choice between surgery and physiotherapy. All the therapists I contacted had waiting lists. A colleague recommended using the Roche physiotherapy service. Based on the doctor's report and the x-rays, Dominik put together a treatment plan tailored to my needs. The configuration of the treatment rooms with access to the Fit@Roche equipment ensured the best possible therapy and was motivating. After only 2 weeks, I was convinced that my shoulder could be fixed without an operation. Now after 3 months, I'm virtually free of symptoms.

Would you recommend the therapy?
Absolutely. The professional therapy and top-class equipment, the flexible scheduling and the proximity to my workplace are unbeatable arguments to my mind. Nonetheless, I hope it's a while before I have to call on their services again.:))

Annotation: "At the time of the interview, the fit@roche had to be closed. On 14 April, the Federal Council decided on individual relaxation steps, which will also affect the fit@roche studios in Basel and Kaiseraugst from Monday, 19 April, and which can open within the framework of the applicable protection concepts and with correspondingly limited capacity."
