Information for cross-border commuters

All the information put together and published in the "AVR Informationen" (newsletter) by our expert for cross-border commuting and member of the Executive Board Andreas Winkler can be found in the articles shown in the Table of Contents. The information has been compiled to the best of his knowledge and belief, but is supplied without liability.

Health Insurance

French Frontier workers depend primarily on the legislation of their country of employment (Switzerland) for their health coverage.
As soon as they take up employment, the new cross-border worker is required to join the Swiss health insurance system within 3 months (basic insurance LAMal).
However, Switzerland allows cross-border workers to be exempted from this obligation and authorizes them to take out insurance in their country of residence (health coverage offered by the CPAM intended (among others) for Swiss border workers within the framework of the CMU).
