Built in 1874, Basel's zoological garden is home to over 6'000 animals of 600 different species. In recent years new theme areas have appeared, among them the Temea park for African elephants.
The zoological garden has raised prices as of July 1, 2023. AVR members enjoy the following discounts (the new prices include 1 voluntary Swiss franc for environmental protection; if you don't want to pay this 1 franc, please advise the cashier at the teller):
- Adults: CHF 17.- instead of CHF 22.- (includes voluntary 1 CHF environment protection)
- 1st and 2nd children, and young people (from 6 to 19 years including) CHF 9.- instead of CHF 10.- or 16.- (includes voluntary 1 CHF env. protection)
- Senior ladies from 64 and Senior men from 65 years CHF 17.- instead of CHF 20.- (includes voluntary 1 CHF env. protection)
This discount is valid for the AVR member and one companion. You will be required to show your AVR membership card and Roche employee ID at the ticket office.
