The AVR traditionally uses the majority of the commission money to fund health and fitness offers for Roche staff. The rest goes to charitable and social institutions in the “Dreiländereck” tri-border region that are dependent on donations.

At the end of 2017, the AVR decided to donate money to the following organisations for the following purposes:

Natur- und Vogelschutzverein, Dornach (see picture) [nature and bird conservation association] – To encourage understanding of nature conservation issues among the public and government agencies by organising excursions, talks and courses.

Bürgerstiftung Lörrach[Lörrach citizens’ foundation] – To renovate and expand a café for school children that the foundation has acquired.

Diakonisches Werk[charitable organisation run by German Protestant churches], Lörrach district– To fund support services for families and households, and an international women’s café offering a low-threshold German course.

Förderverein Musikschule[music school supporters’ association], Binningen Bottmingen – To help families and children attend music camps and music weeks, and buy instruments.

Gassenküche Basel[Basel soup kitchen] – To provide breakfast, supper and a Sunday brunch for people in need who are facing difficult situations.

HELP! For Families, Basel - To provide sponsorship for children whose parents are mentally or physically ill.

Jugendbüro 10plus, Grenzach-Wyhlen[ecumenical youth work organisation] – To provide space and support so that young people can use their spare time constructively.

The AVR is delighted to be able to support these institutions.
