Sustainable: Lab equipment donation for Switzerland Innovation Park

Roche’s outstanding sustainability strategy is an integral part of the company’s business operations and culture. A sustainable approach is particularly important when replacing high-value equipment in research laboratories. The person responsible for this task at Basel/Kaiseraugst is Tom Kissling, Head of End-2-End Lab Services pRED Operations.

“We’re committed to finding uses for equipment outside Roche wherever possible, rather than disposing of it. Our aim is to generate value. It’s in our interest to encourage the ongoing growth of the life sciences in the region and to contribute to sustainable research. That’s why we’re delighted to be able to donate equipment to partners and organisations such as Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area.

The donation, which complies with the “Donations” SOP, comprises some 230 instruments and items of equipment, ranging from manually operated to fully automated devices. End-2-End (E2E) Lab Services pRED Operations is handling the process. Roche’s donation to Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area strengthens the contact that was established when the two parties signed a letter of intent.

Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area is one of five innovation parks throughout the country that belong to the Switzerland Innovation foundation. Links to E2E Lab Services pRED were established during a conversation between Jürgen Allwohn, CEO Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area, and AVR President Adnan Tanglay.

E2E Lab Services pRED Operations would like to thank the AVR for its cross-departmental partnership and hopes that Switzerland Innovation Park will be able to generate strong scientific results with the equipment donated by Roche.
